Kaylyn Heim 2019

Kaylyn Michele Heim, is a freshman at Boise State University. She is on the Boise State Spirit Squad Mane Line dance team. Kaylyn was selected to be an officer for the Valhalla dance program for 3 years! She was the Vice President for her Junior year and the  President for her Senior year! Kaylyn very honored to have spent all 4 years of high school on Valhalla’s advanced dance team. During my four years on VDC I grew so much as a dancer and individual, thanks to the help from my amazing dance teacher, Shauni Whyte. I was part of a competition dance team outside of school. The Boise State Spirit Squad program is one of the programs that I dreamed of being on, and the fact that I made the team gave me so hope for myself. Again, I would not be the dancer I am without the help of my dance teachers. I am truly living my life dream and I am so thankful for that!

Katie Crawley 2019

Katie Crawley is 17 years old and just recently graduated as a part of the Class of 2019. Katie was selected to be an officer for the Valhalla dance program for 2 years! She was the Treasurer for her Junior year and the Vice President for her Senior year! Katie is very honored to have spent all 4 years of high school on Valhalla’s advanced dance team and meet so many amazing friends along the way! She has been dancing competitively with The Element Dance Center ever since she was 4 years old but wanted to branch out of her comfort zone to also perform with Valhalla while doing different styles that she doesn’t perform for competition. Valhalla Dance Company has given her so much knowledge about the dance industry, along with a lot about the history of dance. With extreme excitement, Katie is proud to announce that she will be spending the next 4 years at California Baptist University as a Liberal Studies major, and she is also apart of their D1 dance team as a Lancer Dancer! Katie would like to thank Mrs. Whyte for all of the amazing opportunities that she has provided, as well as the guidance that she gave throughout all 4 of my years at Valhalla High School! Katie will forever and always love this program with all of her heart!

Kylie Francisco 2018

Now that I’m  studying dance as a major at Loyola Marymount University alongside a second degree in political science, I can truly appreciate my time in Valhalla Dance Company in high school.  Being involved in the program for my entirety of the four years of high school allowed me the time to grow and better myself as a dancer, while being exposed to different styles, and realizing that this was something I wanted to pursue at a higher education. Something that I especially feel was beneficial that has prepared me for dancing at a university level was the level of professionalism established in the dance program and the countless creative opportunities we had to create our own choreography. These two things have made the transition so much smoother, and because of them, I feel confident and comfortable dancing in an academic environment in classes with incredibly experienced and knowledgeable professors, and am able to push my creative boundaries further with everything I learn, inventing more unique movement. I am so fortunate to have had this experience in preparation for my freshman year.
